Joe Jones

PHD SCHOLAR | QUEEN MARY UNIVERSITY LONDON

Joe Jones is a PhD student and Teaching Associate at Queen Mary, University of London. History has been Joe’s favourite subject since he was 15 years old. His research focuses on black global activism in post-war Britain. By examining networks of black activists, most of whom migrated to Britain from Africa and the Caribbean, the project combines themes of race, empire and international left-wing politics.

Joe grew up in south London, before undertaking his BA at the University of Leeds and his MPhil at the University of Cambridge. He has also previously worked for Imperial War Museums (IWM) in curation and collections management. Joe is so grateful to be part of the Stuart Hall Foundation and to share ideas with all its scholars.
